Definately the most convenient of the mediums. There are as many different styles as there are watercolourist.
However
The trick is to let the water do most of the work. Which is surprisingly difficult to do, but watercolour really comes into it’s own when used losely, you will be amazed how much you can get away with.
I like to start by painting a few ‘background’ with splattering and dropping in some of the colours around you. Then, once dry you can draw on top and reinforce with more paint. Voila
Surprisingly oil is the easiest of the mediums. The colours don’t dry a different colour and stay where you put them. I will provide several canvases pre painted in a mid tone, because, unlike watercolour you can add lighter colours.
The problem with oil colour is knowing when to stop and let it dry. I you keep tweaking it you land up with mud.
I recommend booking two mornings, or two afternoons, to let it dry overnight.
The pigment is carried in linseed oil and so is easily absorbed through the skin. Some of the pigments are toxic. For this reason it is not a good idea for younger kids.
This medium is amazingly flexible. We use sandpaper as the paper, which really grabs the pigment and makes it as intense as oil.
You can easily correct by flicking the pigment off with a brush. Like oils you can add lighter colours to darker ones.
The drawback with this medium is you will get very messy – not to worry we provide aprons and lots of wet-wipes.

This medium is does not perform well in Italy. The hot weather causes it to dry very quickly leading to alot of frustration and wastage. Also the colours tend to dry darker than when wet.
Very useful, however as a base for oils
