Our painting holidays are based at Tenuta Gorgiana, a collection of eighteenth-century, stone farm buildings, in the ‘Borgo’ style typical of the region. The studios sit on the side of a hill with views across a little river and up to the fortified hill town of Camerino. We have 7 spacious double bedrooms across 2 farmhouses, and the little outhouse. We are situated in a nature reserve. Local inhabitants include porcupines, deer, wild boar, golden eagles and many other birds of prey.
We have been self sufficient for electricity for the past ten years. Likewise, we have a water well with which we fill the swimming pool and water the garden. We grow many of our own vegetables, herbs and fruits (including plums, figs, quince, grapes, walnuts, hazlenuts and mulberries) The rooms are all centrally heated using sustainable wood and we have stoves fuelled by olive stones. Don’t forget the £200 refund for those travelling by international rail.
We have been careful to preserve the rustic character of the house and the rooms are furnished with treasures found at the local flea antique market.
In the Artist’s farmhouse, the ‘Olive’ and the ‘Poppy’ rooms face South towards Camerino, and the ‘Sunflower’ room faces West and the setting sun. In the main farmhouse the ‘Fig’ room faces the dawn. ‘Walnut’ and ‘Mulberry’ enjoy the sunset.

We have also restored a romantic little outbuilding, slightly away from the main house (30 yards). It has a double bedroom with a little stair to a private bathroom and has views across the rose garden towards the mountains.
As a lockdown project it is now decorated with frescos.
